The City of Achern is located in Germany's economically potent South-West. It's surrounding landscape, called "Rheinebene", characterized by the german Black Forest, the french Vogese mountains and the river Rhein (Rhine), is not to be missed by nature-lovers. It is located approximately 18 km southwest of Baden-Baden and 19 km northeast of Offenburg. Achern is the fourth largest city in the county of Ortenau (Ortenaukreis), after Offenburg, Lahr / Black Forest and Kehl.
