Frst opened as "The Watering Hole" by Tom Spears in 1976. It was known as the Rachel Bar and Grill in 1988 when Joe and Pat Travis came to town and bought the business from Harold and Ladell Singer.
Tungston mining here abouts was going bust and the community's population drindled. Joe decided the café-motel needed a new name, a new motif, to keep up with the times, and the "news" in Tikaboo Valley was all about space aliens and their UFOs.
The whole area around Rachel is notorious for strange lights in the sky and sonic booms from military tests of secret aircraft. More than a few people believe the government is collaborating with aliens who are hidden on the base 35 miles south. Photo courtesy Little A'Le'Inn
Two photos by Laura Rauch depict the "flying saucer" mural adorning the café wall (facing Highway 375) and Little A'Le'Inn employee Rhonda Scott (standing on mat).

  • I ate here once in like 2003. Pretty good food, cool 'vibe', if you will.
  • This place is awesome...
  • stopped by while updating maps of eastern nevada. the inn has the most extensive collection of one-of-a-kind ufo photos anywhere... including polaroid photos you can't see anywhere else. truly unique. real bucket list location!
  • For a while there was a huge - as in acres in size - picture of Colonel Sanders of fried chicken fame. Done in interlocking floor tiles.
