This McDonald's is interesting for two reasons. First it sits on a historic site, a former guard outpost which during colonial times watched for possible invasion of the city from enemy troops landed from ships in Torbay or Conception Bay. It was also the first McDonald's in Canada to sport McDonald's new "Coffee House"-like redesign.

This McDonald's location has a 24-hour drive-through, although the restaurant is closed during the small hours of the night.
