Statue of Admiral Yi Sun-shin who was a Korean naval commander noted for his victories against the Japanese navy during the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592-1598) during the Joseon Dynasty.
Yi is best known for his innovativations, resurrecting and improving the turtle ship (거북선 - war ship). He is reputed to be one of the few admirals to have been victorious in every naval battle (of at least 23) in which he commanded.
