KWP Leadership Retreat and Chalet: This is the Yon-poong Reservoir retreat for General Kim Jong il and favored members of the Central Committee and the NDC. This is General Kim's hunting lodge. DPRK President Kim il Sung occupied the house in the southwest of the Yon-poong. General Kim also entertains many of his foreign visitors here. The original buildings, which are southwest on the reservoir, were constructed in the late 1960s. The complex was updated in the 1970s and late 1980s. The wooded areas of the property, and even some of the surrounding villages, have hunting stands for deer and pheasant. This is the largest of the Kim Family or DPRK Leadership residential complexes or retreats.
