Sonoma State University (Rohnert Park)

Designed by a noted prison designer in 1968, it was made with low staircases wide enough to allow passage by battle tanks and armored personnel carriers. The gunwalk and prison exercise yard in the center of Stevenson Hall is a fitting reminder of its origins. The bare unpainted concrete walls with windows too high to climb through shows its careful design to channel, delay, and deny campus riots such as those which plagued other universities at the time of this one's construction.

Considerable building and expansion has occured since the last 1990's making the university more valuable to the community rather than the useless backwater it was for many years prior.
