Basicaly it was built for the refuges who migrated at the time of Indo-Pak partition.Major resident were sindhi at that time so it was named as Sindhi Colony. Now major residents are Gujarati. The name of the colony has now been changed to "The New Sion Co-Operative Housing Society".
