Thimiri sree shiva temple, A very ancient Shiva temple. The presiding deity, is the Swayambhu Linga.It is believed that Shiva sat here after TRIPURA DAHANAM(Buring of tri cities). This is testimony to its sanctity and importance as a Shiva shrine. The temple was owned and governed by the then local ruler/landlords Kshatriya Nambiar family KUMIZHI NALUKETTU(Kizhakkeniyil, Pulukkool,Vadakkiniyil and Pathayapura),out of that only Kizhakkiniyil and Pulukkool remains now. This very ancient temple, dedicated to Shiva, represents the type of Hindu architecture. This temple has actually four parts: the main temple (Sanctum Sanctorum), the Yajna Gopuram, the Bhoga Mandap(OOttupura) and finally the Koothambalam(Natya Shala). The annual festival(Ulsavam) is in the month of Feb-March starting from the day of Shivarathri to 10 days.
