This rotary frequency converter was installed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for their electrification around 1933. It converts 60Hz grid power to 25Hz railroad power for the former PRR's (now Amtrak) electrification system and has a 25mW capacity. The equipment is all original and dates from the time of construction; however, there are plans to rewind and refurbish it.
