La Flèche is a commune of the Sarthe département in France, on the banks of the Loir river. Population (2007): 17,083.

Heritage and Places of interest:
The Fléchois region reveals its remarkable architectural heritage through rough fortresses and elegant manor houses. The Romanesque style is still present in the region : all along villages, churches and chapels from the XI and XII centuries invite you to push their door and to come in.

* The National Military Prytanee, is a Royal College founded by Henry IV in 1603. It became the Military Prytanee in 1808. Nowadays it prepares students for the baccalaureate and competitive entrance examinations for military High Schools.

* The Zoological Park of La Flèche, nestled in a naturally wooded site, the zoological park (over 1200 animals) presents dazzling shows featuring eared seals, parrots and falconry on horseback. One of the most important in France.

* The lake of La Monnerie, this lake (160 acres) is a pleasant place for leisure offering a beach with supervised bathing, a fitness course and natural protected areas.

* The "Notre Dame des Vertus" chapel. Dating back ti the XI century, this chapel was rebuilt in the XVII century bt the Jesuits of the college of La Flèche.

* The Fouquet de la Varenne's side pavilion

* The"Moulin de la Bruère", situated on the Loir river, the site is still making flour, elctricity and ice blocks for cooling. It's the last mill which is still producting blocks of ice in France.

* The"Theatre de la Halle au Blé", this italian style theatre (1839) will amaze you by its elegant architecture a,d the splendour of its setting.
