Despite the naming rights being sold to a Chinese (for the first time) company in 2013, this theater is (and will always be) known as Grauman's Chinese Theatre, a legendary movie theater that opened for the first time in May 1927 and features an open courtyard with cement tiles featuring the signatures (and often other mementos, like an imprint of Groucho Marx's cigar) of famous movie stars. Besides the name change, the original auditorium was extensively renovated in 2013 to have a full IMAX screen. The theater currently has 7 screens, the other six built in the early 2000s as part of a renovation and restoration. [cinematreasures.org/theaters/1]
