Formerly Hollywood & Highland Center, an entertainment, retail and hotel complex at Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue in the Hollywood district in Los Angeles. The 387,000-square-foot center (opened in 2001) also includes the Grauman's Chinese Theater and the Dolby Theatre, home to the Academy Awards. The historic site was once the home of the famed Hollywood Hotel. Located in the heart of Hollywood, along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it is among the most visited tourist destinations in Los Angeles. It is also the former site of the world famous Hollywood Hotel, used by stars and dignitaries in the early part of the 20th century, which was demolished in 1956.
