Formerly General Motors Chevrolet manufacturing plant (largest assembly plant to date), the shopping center was built here in 1995, soon after the plant closed on August 27, 1992. Originally, the GM plant opened on December 1, 1947 at 1 million square feet, in 1957 it expanded by some 300,000 square feet. The last car manufactured at the plant was a red Chevrolet Camaro.

  • General Motors The GM assembly plant on Van Nuys Boulevard at the Southern Pacific railroad tracks opened in 1948 and provided steady work for two generations of Van Nuys auto workers. The site is now a shopping center called The Plant.
