  • Excavated in Feb. 2000 by JVP Rao (Archeological Survey of India) and D. Kennet (University of Durham). Three phases of building construction have been identified. The earliest is of a unique structure quite unlike any other Hindu, Jain or Buddhist religious building. Brick analysis suggest the first six centuries AD. The Second phase dates from the 7th to 11th centuries and is definately a Hindu temple. The third phase is a more typical Hindu temple with stone construction.
