  Bruntsfield Evangelical Church is a medium sized church with a variety of activities for people of ages. The name indicates that they are a local church in the Bruntsfield area of Edinburgh. The word evangelical in the title emphasises their desire to spread the good news about Jesus Christ our Lord. They are an autonomous church. This means that they are under no central authority but, like many other churches, acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Head. Their website states an aim to be a welcoming and friendly church, and a hope that all who join them will quickly feel part of the Bruntsfield family. Main Sunday services include: 10:00 Lord's Supper - Traditional communion service 11:30 All-age service - Preaching of the gospel, with a mix of modern and traditional music and videos. 18:30 Bible Teaching Service BEC has a lively 18-30's group with regular social activities as well as Sunday night worship and bible studies. Lunch is also provided, for young people, each Sunday after the All-age service. Wednesday nights include: A monthly praise night, church meal & prayer, missionary reports, home bible studies. The home bible studies take place with care groups who, as well as meeting for the bible studies, meet for other social activities. Other activities include: Mothers & Toddlers, Senior Citizens Coffee Morning, Reading Group, Church BBQ's, Weekends Away, Annual Christmas Party, Kids Church, Creche, Band Practices and many more. BEC are also committed to helping others. As well as helping to run the Bethany Care Van, members of BEC have served as missionaries both long-term and on short-term missions. BEC also runs activites for children in urban estates accross Edinburgh and has close links with Scripture Union Scotland.
