Parkway Center Mall opened in 1982 as one of the region's major shopping centers, but slowly died with the rise of the Robinson/North Fayette commercial area. It closed in January 2013 (along with its Kmart anchor) but the mall had foundation problems. Giant Eagle, which never was connected to the interior, is still open.
