Caerleon Roman Barracks

Remains of Roman barrack buildings. This block housed a century - 80 men. The larger rooms in the foreground were for the centurion. Legionaries shared quarters - eight men to a room. The barracks were excavated in 1927 by Dr Nash-Williams and include several of the circular ovens and the latrine block, situated along the outer defence wall.
