Thun Castle (Thun)

Switzerland / Bern / Thun
 castle, museum, interesting place

Between 1180 an 1190 the Dukes of Zaehringen built the mighty castle keep, which has been preserved completely right up to the present day. In 1218 the Counts of Kyburg inherited it and in 1384 Bern took it over. The knight's hall from the time of the Zaehringer is the piece of splendor of the castle. The five spacious halls of the keep house the Historical Museum, which presents a wealth of historical culture. An incomparable view over the surrounding countryside can be had from the corner turrets of the castle tower. www.thun-info.ch/tourismus/schlossthun/index.html
