A .8301 sq mile-large mangrove area known as Special Zone of Environment Protection (SZEP) a.k.a. Parque dos Manguezais (Mangrove Park) owned by the Brazilian Navy. It lies between the bairros of Pina, Boa Viagem, and Imbiribeira. Jordão e Pina Rivers crisscross through it. Deus Island, São Simão Island and das Cabras Island comprise that area largely regarded as one of the biggest urban mangrove areas in the world.
