Bayley House

Constructed in 1863 by A.J. Bayley for the "railroad that never came" -- a.k.a. the Transcontinental Railroad -- and later used as a hotel and grange hall. It's also a historical monument for being California's first Grange hall. The 22-room building included two ladies' parlors, a bar, six fireplaces, a huge wine cellar, and a ballroom that doubled as an observatory.
