This building was the 1941 Headquarters of the US Pacific Fleet. ADM Kimmel had his office in the building and witnessed the Pearl Harbor attack from his second story office window. Following ADM Kimmel's removal from position, ADM Nimitz directed a newer and more secure HQ be built in the Makalapa Neighborhood to the east.
