The cathedral's pipe organ was built between 1957 and 1967 by the Ruffatti brothers from Padua. The project was created during the episcopate of Archbishop Francesco Carpino; the titular organist at the time, Monsignor Antonino Orlando, participated in the design. The inaugural concert took place on April 24, 1967, and was performed by Fernando Germani.
The instrument consists of 121 stops for over 7,000 pipes.
The control console, the largest in the world among mobile ones, consists of a wooden piece of furniture decorated with sculptural bas-reliefs, is located on the left side of the presbytery and is equipped with 6 keyboards of 61 notes each and a concave-radial pedal keyboard of 32 notes, 195 plates for controlling the registers placed "on the terrace" on both sides of the console, 4 stirrup switches for expression and one for crescendo, about a hundred controls placed below the keyboards and above the pedal keyboard.
The place is located in Monreale Cathedral
