  • I have edited the description and added a general description from the wiki. Mangalore is not a kingdom of konkanis as it was stated earlier. Konkanis never ruled mangalore. Mangalore has Konkanis brahmins, bunts and poojaris too. Bunts and poojaris are the real natives of this land.

  • I would like to make correction on the above comment that in mangalore costal areas like surathkal,kulai, sasihithlu thiere MOGAVEERA(fihermans) Peoples are also leaving. There we know folk dances like kangeel,cheenu,kanyapu etc are 1st bought into stage by sasihithlu uvaka mandala.

  • hey tulu is the main language here not kannada and this is the capital of tulu nadu the land of tuluvas. tulu is one of the most ancient dravidian languages. kannda descends from tulu and the malayalam script used today is also derived from the tulu script known as tigliari script.and also the great vijaynagara king krishnadevaraya comes from tulu nadu

According to me it's one of the finest, cleanest, beautiful people, developed, educated, rich, multiculture with multiple languages (kannada, tulu, konkani, malberry (additional english and hindi) no doubt tulu and konkani remains the key. The key to its growth and transformation as a city thanks to all the people. Being a mangalorean I find it really disturbing abt the recent happenings in mangalore. Hopefully, mangalore comes to its senses and we all try get back the dignity we always had. I am jus soooooo proud to be a mangalorean and definitely want give back something to the city some day. Advise: Mangalore has all the things to be converted to a tourist spot like goa. Someone please reduce the rates of liqour in mangalore tourist will automatically flok in. LOL
