This building was built by Behlen Mfg and used during the Apple-2 nuclear test at the Yucca Flat Atomic Energy Commission test site on May 5th 1955. This structure was 15,000 feet from ground zero likely along what is now Mercury Highway.. This is one of two buildings built by Behlen that were used in that test. The second was 6,800 feet from ground zero and is now at the Behlen plant in Columbus, NE.

This building donated by Behlen to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was moved from Yucca to here soon after. This event was covered on pages 49-52 of the July 1955 issue of Popular Science.
