  • To me, the clocktower was the 'Big Ben' of Nuneaton. It will always be imprinted on my mind when I remember playing football in the park. Strong Lions FC (est. 1986) now confined to the annals of 'community football' history.
  • Strong Lions FC was the name of a five-a-side football team that my childhood friends and I played in, in the late eighties and early nineties. Courtaulds Park was like a training ground for us and we played here and the The Rec (further north from here) on a regular basis. Back then, there was only one path with the lowermost play area, so we had a larger area to play in. The addition of the northern play area has somewhat hindered those who wish to play ball games.
