Almaty Republican military boarding school was opened on 28 February 1983 in 1983 on the basis of the Resolution of the Council of Ministers Kazahsskoy SSR № 90-15 «on the opening in Alma-Ata Republican special secondary boarding school with in-depth study of the Russian language and enhanced military-athletic training. "In 1991, according to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR on 26/03/91, № 189 of Almaty Republican military school was named Hero of the Soviet Union Baurzhan Momyshuly. Since Kazakhstan gained sovereignty Republican Specialized Boarding School was transformed into the Almaty Republican military boarding school named after Baurzhan Momyshuly (ARVShi).
