Armenia plans to build the highest statue of Jesus Christ of the world. The government has approved a project to build a statue of Jesus on Mount Hatis, 25 km northeast from Yerevan, which will be 77 meters high. Out of more than 300 submitted works, 12 were selected. According to the results of public voting and the selection of the competition commission, the project of the sculptor Armen Samvelyan was recognized as the winner. According to the idea of maecenas Gagik Tsarukyan, the statue should be 33 meters high - according to the number of years lived by the Savior and will be installed on Mount Hatis. Assumed that this will be the largest monument dedicated to Christ, the total height of which with a pedestal will be 77 meters. At the moment, the statue of Christ the King in the Polish city of Swiebodzin is considered the tallest, the height of which, together with the pedestal, is 52 meters.
