Sultan Abdul Hamid College (Alor Setar, Kedah)

The college was established in 1908. There will be a grand 100 year celebration coming up in 2008, organized by SAHOCA (an alumni which stands for Sultan Abdul Hamid Old Collegians Association). The first headmaster was Tun Dr Mahathir's father, Mohamad Iskandar. The primary school behind the college is named after him (Sekolah Rendah Iskandar).
One of the most memorable headmaster was Mr Joginder Singh Jessy. He was also a historian who wrote a textbook on Malaysian history for secondary schools. The most memorable teacher was Cikgu Abdul Halim 'R', who was my Bahasa teacher. He too wrote a textbook for Bahasa. Recently this year (January 2007) he was awarded the Datukship by the Sultan of Kedah.

A GOOD & GHJOST SCHOOL

Ahhh... my old school. I was there, staying in the asrama for about two years (1988/89) and under two headmasters. At that time, it was all-boys. Very challenging environment, very sportive yet taught me so many things. So full of sweet memories. Thanks to all my teachers, mentors, coaches and friends. You people were simply out of this world! Keep it up.

Used to cycle to school from Jalan Pegawai. Those were wonderful years indeed! My contemporaries were the late Radzi Jaafar, late Faisal Embi, Zahid Zakaria, Zaki Azmi, Mooi Kok Chee, Chin Teck etc. Teachers that I can remember were Mr Lau Lai Yu, Ajmer Singh, Mr Anas and Stanley Augustine. I'm truly blessed to have been with those who were part of my wonderful years in SAHC!
