Built in 1891 at a major junction point in LVRR trackage, the Rochester Junction Station was a large passenger station that served as the connection point for its Rochester and Hemlock Lake branches to its two-track mainline running from Buffalo to New York City. Officially opening in 1892, the station saw eight mainline passenger services pass through daily in addition to regular shuttle services to and from Rochester, Honeoye Falls and Hemlock Lake. Located alongside a large layby yard, the junction was a busy freight interchange facility as well, and the entirety of the stations second floor was given over to LVRR offices controlling operations and crewing on the branch lines.

Flagging passenger demand saw the last trains run on the Rochester/Hemlock Lake branch in 1950 and continued to wane until the last mainline train departed Eastbound on February 3, 1961. Thereafter the station continued to be used for offices while the first floor was used for storage until the facility closed by the LVRR in the mid-1960s. The building saw brief use as a warehouse for a few years after its closure, but was largely abandoned by April 22, 1973 when it was destroyed by fire and razed.
