22 Upper Mall was built towards the middle of the 17th century when it formed one dwelling with Number 24 and was once taken for the servants of Catherine of Braganza. Until recent years Number 22 was occupied by a community of nuns, the Irish Sisters of Charity and they built a chapel in the covent that they established here. It is now a private house.
