A beautiful quiet village designed by the architect Alexander Nimmo for the Knight of Kerry in 1840. The work of the slate was made in a slateyard. In 1830, the Valentia Hotel is established and became the "Royal Hotel" after the visit of Prince Arthur in 1869.
