Verin T'agh (Armenian: Վերին Թաղ) is one of the 18 Armenian districts of the Armenian sector of the city of Shushi. It had an Armenian church, two schools, and a spring. It was set on fire and destroyed by the Caucasian Tatars (Azeris) in 1920 during the massacre of Armenians in Shusha. The ruins were leveled to the ground only in 1961, by decision of the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan SSR, in order to construct of Khrushchev houses (5-stroyed buildings common for Soviet urban areas in 1960-1970) for Azeris and for making resort area.
