This bridge carries northbound U.S. Route 17 and westbound U.S. Route 50 (John Mosby Highway) over the Shenandoah River and Secondary Route 622 (Swift Shoals Road). It is a steel beam bridge with concrete deck built in 1975. The bridge was named after the then Virginia governor in 1929 by the State Highway Commission, and the name has carried over as the bridge was replaced.
