A legend says that in the 19th year of King Yuri of Silla(42), a golden box containing 6 golden eggs came down from the sky. From the eggs, King Kim Suro and the founders of 6 Gaya Kingdoms were born. This place is related to the legend and it is the birthplace of Gaya culture. In addition, an epic poem 'Gujiga song', which is very important in the study of Korean literature, still remains. It was designated as Historic Site on Mar. 7th 2001. It was originally called Gusubong Peak because it looked like a turtle. The flat area where the Tomb of Queen Heo

Hwangok is located is the body of turtle and the protrusion on the west is the head of turtle. And the letters "Gujibongseok(stone of Gujibong)" are engraved on the stone table. A repair project started in Dec. 2002 and it was completed in Sept., 2003.
