Taejongdae

Korea (South) / Pusan /
 green area, tourist attraction

Taejongdae (park) is named after the 29th King of the Silla Kingdom (57 BCE to 935 CE), King Taejong Muyeol (604-661), who enjoyed archery and hiking in this area of Busan.

Taejongdae, Busan's best tourist attraction, lies on the southernmost tip of Yeongdo Island along the southern coast. Surrounding the highest peak in the center of the park, 250m above sea level, the seashore is embellished with exquisite rock formations like Sinseonbawi, the Rock of the Mountain God, and Mangbuseok, or the legendary Rock of the Faithful Woman.

The scenic beauty of the thick forest and vast coastal water captivates all visitors. In the past, poets, artists, and calligraphers used to frequent here to enjoy nature.
