The New York Belting and Packing Company occupied this industrial complex from its construction until 1917. The company manufactured power transmission belts, packing for steam joints and fire hoses. In 1917 the site was purchased by the Fabric Fire Hose Company, a subsidiary of Uniroyal, who operated the facility until 1977.
