This 1,600-foot long section of roadway forms part of General Rochambeau's army's march route south in 1781 during the Revolutionary War. Though now paved, the segment of roadway looks much the same today as it would have then, running between two low rubble stone walls for much of its distance. The road segment is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), where it is one of a number of properties and sites listed for their importance to the march of General Rochambeau's army.
