A former French Colony,, 37kms. from Kolkata, the town came under the Governor of India on February 02, 1951 when the country signed a treaty with France. But walking through the town today, one could be forgiven for thinking that the French had never left. While most town along the river Hoogly have rows of derelict ghats, Chandannagar, on the west bank of the river, has a well managed strand on the bank.

Chandernagor est une belle place de faire une promenade à pied parce que le quai m'attire beaucoup avec un beau paysage au bord de la rivière d'Hugli.   • It is my birth place and it is very close to my heart.Thouh I am a bihari living in jamui district of bihar.My mama jee has his own house behind the maa jagdhatri mandir at nichupatti (chaulpatti) ganj bajar. Frequently , i visit chandan nagar with my family . It is the best place in the world i have seen.Being an airforce personnel i havevisited all over india but ther is no match of Chandan nagar.
