This is a historic building which is now part of Ministry of Finance Headquarter. The name came from A.A. Maramis, an Indonesian Finance Minister for several periods. who was involved in the struggle for Indonesian Independence.
Originally known as "Het Groote Huis" or Palace of Governor-General, the building was constructed in 1809 during early days of Daendels administration of Dutch East Indies, which however stalled as Daendels pulled from Dutch East Indies by Napoleon to Poland and continued in 1826-1828 by J. Tromp by order of Dubouis de Ghisignies. During colonial era, the building is used as office of Governor-General, several courthouses, offices and printing companies, and also post office.

Now the building is part of Ministry of Finance
