Little Horwood Manor is a 1938's built landmark residence, reputedly the last of the traditional grand manor houses to be built in this country, a faithful copy of the Lutchens style with distinctive 'art deco' characteristics. It had been a substantial wing of a country Manor House in an rural setting of three and a half acres adjacent to open countryside.

  • Rumours are that it was built in 1939, very fast and used by the military. It is certainly near to Bletchley Park and a number of second world war airfields. After the war it was used by the GPO (Post Office, then became British Telecom) which is another potential indication that it was a military/goervnment building. Someone also found lots of old phones in a room, so there's an interesting background here somewhere. Across the road are two very high "grain stores" - very much higher than you would normally find. They were built in Warren Farm, right at the highest point in the area and coule easily be used as a lookout - if only we knew more...
  • The name of the architect mentioned is certainly pronounced Lutchens, but spelt Lutyens.
