Lonsdale is a city in in section 26 of Wheatland Township, Rice County, Minnesota. It had a population of 3,674 as of the 2010 census.

Lonsdale was founded in 1903 by the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad. It incorporated as a village and had a post office established in 1902. It was known first as Willoughby.

Lonsdale was served by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad from 1903 until 1980.
