The small village of Markovice is located in the district of Kutná Hora and is now part of the Žleby municipality. Despite the fact that there are not even fifty inhabitants permanently living in Markovice, we can still find here an interesting historical monument.
It is a Gothic church, relatively rare in our country, dedicated to St. Mark, patron - among other things - good weather and all builders. The cemetery church on a gentle hill was originally dedicated to St. Jiří. When was the consecration of St. Mark, we doesn't know. A narrow path leads to the church, turning off the main road at the large reconstructed Baroque farmhouse from the mid-18th century. It is almost permanently inaccessible, but the interior can be seen through the window in the door, unfortunately heavily polluted activities in the nearby quarry.
