Historically, this collection of greenhouses is important for its association with the area's cut-flower industry, which flourished and expanded here through the 1980s but largely collapsed after 1990 due to foreign competition. Today, the greenhouses are the centerpiece of Lynchburg Grows, an urban farm that grows produce and operates a Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
