The hotel under the name "Ambasciatori Palace" has a slightly confusing history. This structure opened in 1905 as the Hotel Palazzo (Palace Hotel). In 1927, the neighboring Hotel degli Ambasciatori was built and the two buildings were jointly known as the Hotel Palazzo - Ambasciatori. In 1946 this building became the US Embassy library, and the adjacent building was known for decades as the Ambasciatori Palace Hotel. In 1993 this building reopened as part of the Ambasciatori Palace Hotel. The adjacent 1927 wing was then sold in the 2000s, becoming the Grand Hotel Palace. This building reopened as InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace in 2023, following a renovation.
