Jeseungdang Watch Tower served to observe the movements of the enemy. This Suru is a type of watchtower was used at the time of Imjin Waeran (the Japanese invasion of Joseon from 1592-1598). Admiral Yi Sun-sin frequently came to here to, watch the enemy’s movements, recite patriotic poems, and pray for the protection of the country from the Japanese forces.

In addition, this place was connected to Mount Godong to the right, Mount Mireuk to the left and Mount Mang to the rear, allowing for the monitoring of enemy movements along the south coast, with communication done by fire, signals, whistles, and kites.

This Suru was built in 1976, at the time of Jeseungdang Hall Purification, after studying the historical evidence of its present location overlooking Hansan Bay, and was rebuilt in wood in 2014.
