Sky Castle Airfield | airport

USA / California / Quartz Hill /

A 3,000-foot dirt runway was built here in the '40s by the then-current residents of Shea's Castle, the Sky Castle Flying Club. A lake and other accomadations were created by the club for flying enthusiasts. It was a common sight to see around 50 planes parked on Sundays for breakfast. The airfield was abandoned in the mid-'50s. Although it appears in good condition, the field doesn't appear to be used.
