  • The vast piles of rubble are produced when rough rock from quarrying is trimmed to finished dimensions. Upwards of 90% of the rock may have to be wasted.
  • That depends on your definition of "wasted' since much of the leftovers are used as fill in other construction projects. Was 80% of the chunk of granite Michelangelo used to carve "David" wasted? Not to the rest of the world.
