hill, archaeological site, ancient civilization

According to the discovered rock inscription in its northwestern section, the natural hill was the site of a Late Hittite or Neo-Hittite town founded by King Hartapu, son of Mursili. Because Hartapu has been identified as a king of Tarhuntassa, Kızıldağ has been proposed (among many other sites) as the location of that ancient city. However, that seems unlikely, as Tarhuntassa existed long before Hartapu. Moreover, Hartapu has been alternatively identified as a king of Masa, instead of Tarhuntassa.
