archaeological site, tell (mound), ancient ruins
The ancient Mesopotamian city of Mardaman (later Assyrian Mardama) was located at this tell on the western edge of Bāsitīkah (Bessetki or Sartank) on the basis of recent archaeological discoveries. These included the remnants of an Assyrian governor's residence and a trove of cuneiform tablets.
