The neighborhood includes Washington Park which was initially designed by Reinhard Schuetze, a German landscape architect, between 1899 and 1908.

Housing began soon after the founding of Denver with a significant increase after the 1890s. Many of the houses were built between 1900 and 1940. The neighborhood of Washington Park was divided by the City of Denver in 1972, into two neighborhoods: Washington Park and Washington Park West.

  • I really must agree with your respectfully charming description of East Wash Park. Indeed, we have co-hosted numerous block parties, and always keep our lawn "nice." Why, we even drive over to the upscale shopping of Cherry Creek. Though it is near enough to walk, we stopped walking after our dear neighbor was struck by a car trying to cross University and was nearly paralyzed. She was in rehab for over a year, and never regained her youthful vitality. We couldn't agree more about how well Wash Park wears it's seasonal coats, though it is a shame that so many dog owners treat the great lawn as a giant litterbox. The East Wash Park neighborhood is also hunting ground for packs of red fox, who harvest house cats nightly in all four seasons.
